Samsung Smart Watch History

Some SAMSUNG Smart Watch Manuals PDF & Schematics are above the page.

In the business of combining watches and phones, Samsung became a pioneer, and the first such product was the SPH-WP10, which is a phone made in the format of a device that can be worn on the arm.

The first mass phone in the clock format was the LG GD-910, introduced in 2009 and focused on the global market. In the technical part, the novelty received a touchscreen display with a diagonal of 1.43 inches (128x160 pixels resolution), Bluetooth support (it was impossible to use the GD-910 without a headset), as well as support for 3G networks and 0.3 megapixel camera for video communication. To send and end a call, as well as enter the menu, there were three buttons on the side of the device. The remaining actions were proposed to perform using the touch screen. The special popularity of the LG GD-910 never gained, and remained an option for lovers of the exotic.

However, Samsung could not answer this challenge. As a result, the stylish Samsung S9110 was born, which also claimed to be the thinnest smart watch in the world. By the standards of 2009, the “thinnest” was 11.98 mm thick. Of the specifications, we can mention the 1.76-inch touchscreen display with scratch-resistant protective glass, GPRS, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP stereo support, a music player, voice recognition and an email client.

The next iconic smart device in the watch format for Samsung was the Galaxy Gear, presented at the IFA 2013. For Samsung, the release of this gadget was a kind of “pen attempt”. Against the background of the fact that Samsung has been working on smart watches since 1999, a similar phrase may sound strange, but it is just that. With the popularization of smartphones, the approach to what “smart” watches were supposed to be changed.

Interestingly, the first modern model of using smart watches was able to predict Sony Ericsson, which released the MBW-100 watch in 2006, equipped with a Bluetooth module and an OLED-screen with a resolution of 96x16 pixels. Their functionality was rather modest - vibration when an incoming call or receiving a new SMS message, displaying the caller's name, muting the incoming call and controlling the player. In terms of their design, the MBW-100 looked like an ordinary analogue watch in a metal case and with a metal bracelet.

In addition, Galaxy Gear electronics were located in the strap, and to answer the call, Galaxy Gear had to be brought to your ear (there is a speaker and two microphones). The Galaxy Gear specification set included a 1.63-inch SuperAMOLED display with a resolution of 320x320 pixels, a 1-core 800 MHz processor, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of internal memory, a 1.9 megapixel camera, support for Bluetooth 4.0, an accelerometer, a gyroscope and 315 mAh battery. Dimensions 56.6 h36.8 h11.1 mm, weight - 74 grams. The software basis of the device is Android.
